Brazil–India: A Booming Cotton Trade Corridor
Brazil has increased cotton exports to India by more than fortyfold in just two years — from 8,000 tons to over 350,000 tons in the 2025/26 marketing season. Today, Brazil accounts for 40% of all cotton imported by India, the world's second-largest cotton producer. This explosive growth was highlighted at BharaTex 2026, India's largest textile trade show, where Cotton Brazil participated for the first time. The bilateral relationship continues to strengthen as India's textile industry scales toward its 2040 vision, with Brazilian cotton playing an increasingly strategic role.
